I have been writing since 2006 and have written nine books so far. They are: "Love Leaves No One Behind," Love Leads the Way," "Her First Breath," "The Cost of Her Heart," "The Butcher's Run," "Seeing with the Heart," "Come Back to Me," "Sacred Tears," and "Finding Faith."
People often ask me which book is my favorite, to which I always answer: "Her First Breath." I say that because this is the book that saved my life. The main character in this book, Sofie, has breast cancer. Though my books are works of fiction, I do my best to make them as realistic as possible. While doing research for Sofie's condition, I discovered that it had been three years since I'd had a mammogram. I scheduled one immediately, and the very same kind and helpful doctor and nurse who had helped me with my book, had to tell me that I, myself, had breast cancer.
Though I had to undergo a double mastectomy, my cancer was caught early, thereby saving my life. I am an outspoken advocate for yearly mammograms. If you are reading this and have not had your yearly mammogram, please do so as soon as possible. It may just save life. It did mine.

Sacred Tears is a work of fiction in the women’s fiction and interpersonal drama subgenres, and was penned by author Claudia Terry Pemberton. The work is intended for the general adult reading audience and contains some reference to tragic events, but no explicit content. Our central protagonist is Evie, a teenager on the cusp of adulthood who wants to follow her dreams and work in the world of fine art. But under strong parental pressure to get a dependable career as a doctor, it is only when tragedy strikes that Evie finds herself free to choose her own path, but also struggling with unimaginable challenges too.
Author Claudia Terry Pemberton is a talented author with a keen sense of character and emotion, and it’s these two factors that drive the story forward in Sacred Tears. I felt a close connection to Evie right from the off, from her idealized position as a young woman who feels like a fish out of water in her family life, through the pain and grief she suffers before she is able to realize her true dreams. I also found the dialogue to be especially engaging and brimming with truth, the kind of natural lines you’d hear in everyday conversation rather than sensationalized dramas. This contributed strongly to the emotional weight of the story and made every high and low even more intense to experience. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sacred Tears to readers who want harrowing drama with relatable characters and realistic emotional problems for those characters to work through.
