Rivers Edge by Rebecka Vigus was an exciting story that was hard for me to put down. Detective Macy McVannel is handed a cold case that is sixteen years old. As Macy and her partner start investigating, witnesses start ending up dead. Soon their own lives are in danger.
My first thought upon reading Rivers Edge is that Detective Macy McVannel is the first cop in history that does not drink coffee. Other than that, I loved this book! I thought that Vigus’ characters had amazing chemistry. I actually loved every character. Macy is such a strong female character and has a backstory that needs to be told. I thought that Sally Mae was going to be an annoying character, but Vigus surprised me by making her really likeable.
Another thing I really liked about this book was that Vigus explained the police terminology and what Macy does to solve cases. The plot of this story is a good one and it kept me guessing. I was not sure who was guilty. My first guess as to who did it was wrong. I love it when I cannot figure out who the murderer is. This alone makes me want to read more of Vigus’ work.
Rebecka Vigus has gained a new fan in me. I cannot wait to see what cases Macy will solve next. I hope to see some of these same characters in the next Macy McVannel book. If you like murder mysteries, then you should read this book!
