Rise of the Antichrist is the second fantasy novel in a trilogy series by author Grant Leishman. I read his first book in this series over twelve months ago, and was incredibly keen to read this next book! The book is a full on fantasy, based loosely on a modernised story of ‘what if’ Jesus came back to earth, fell in love, got married and had children. The author brings humour, fun, a little bit of a moralistic message and a whole lot of entertainment into the story, making this a truly enjoyable read!
JC (aka Jesus in the modern world) and his wife, Maria, along with their merry disciples, are faced with a potential threat to humanity with the introduction of Beelzebub (aka Satan). With the threat of evil ruling the world, sending God’s plans astray, you are quickly taken on a whirlwind adventure ride, and Grant Leishman makes this a real page turner, keeping you guessing with every twist and turn. There is an interesting turn of events towards the conclusion, and Leishman has done a clever job of developing his characters and creating a very original storyline.
Rise of the Antichrist follows the concept of the Bible, based loosely on many of the figures we have grown up with. However, this book is bigger than that, and will certainly appeal to a broad range of readers who enjoy a true fantasy adventure! This is like no other story I’ve read before, and as this book is part of a trilogy, I am keen to read book number three. A highly recommended read!
