Ripped in Two by A.J. Kohler is the story of a killer that leaves no clues. Reesa, together with her partner Chuck, is looking for him, but there’s something strange going on. The murders all seem to be of couples who were having affairs. There are regular meetings of people who have had affairs and have chosen to patch up their relationships. The killer leaves no clues behind, no evidence. Reesa and Chuck have their work cut out. Then Jeff comes along and inveigles his way into her life. The local news reporter insists on splashing Reesa’s face across the papers after every murder, pinpointing her as the lead detective and claiming that she is useless at solving the crimes. Reesa won’t stop, not until the killer is found. It would be better if Reesa didn’t know him but she has her suspicions about Jeff. No matter, whoever it is will go down for the crime. Reesa won’t have it any other way. And who, or what, is the mysterious Family?
Ripped in Two by A.J. Kohler is a strong detective story centered around Reesa and her desire to do her job properly. It’s not what I would call fast-paced but it moved along at a steady rate, no unnecessary information, no wandering off course. Every single chapter is completely relevant and has its place in the story and all does become very clear later on. Gripping read, great storyline and good characters. I love a good detective story and this is one that kept me guessing all the way.
