In Ring of Conspiracy, the second installment of The Volya Series by J. Robert Kinney, a powerful terrorist group emerges, originating from old Russia but with modern global ambitions. Their violent actions throw the world into chaos, exposing deep-rooted connections and revealing sympathizers within the intelligence community. Franklin Holt, a former mobster, seeks revenge for the murder of his wife. He also wants redemption, so he teams up with federal agents and a tech expert to stop the terrorists. However, their efforts are challenged when a summit in Budapest is attacked, leaving experts dead and others fleeing. As the team races across Europe, Washington DC, and the badlands of South Dakota, they uncover shocking twists and betrayals, pursuing justice while facing the ultimate question: what are they truly fighting for? With high stakes and devastating consequences, Franklin must decide whether to save lives and preserve his soul or allow the world to be forever changed.
This intriguing political thriller unfolds at a breathless pace. The chapters are short and carefully crafted to draw the reader straight into the next one. The narrative voice is gripping as J. Robert Kinney creates focused scenes and imagery that captivates the reader. The characters are unique, richly drawn, and memorable. Franklin Holt was my favorite, a man with a painful past who is also torn between the quest for redemption and revenge and the desire to save himself and watch the world burn. The conflict is ingeniously handled, from the characters' internal turmoil to physical exchanges to full-blown terrorist acts. The writing captivated me, and the author balances descriptive prose with intelligent dialogue to create an enjoyable novel. Overall, Ring of Conspiracy is a riveting read.
