Ring Fold is a work of fiction in the science fiction, adventure, and interpersonal drama subgenres. It is intended for the young adult reading audience and was penned by author Scott Swisher. This highly engrossing time-traveling adventure novel focuses on five central figures who are descendants linked to “The Ring.” Jordan Zesker begins her life in the 1920s, only to discover that a time-spanning mission lies before Jordan to collect her four contemporaries from different eras of human history. They must come together to face an epic battle that will decide the future of humankind. The Fold, a mystical time passageway, awaits if Jordan is brave enough to traverse it.
For a high-octane, engrossing, and action-packed new science fiction novel, teen and adult readers alike need to look no further than author Scott Swisher. One of the features I especially liked about Ring Fold was the diversity of the central characters, spanning different eras with distinctly different attitudes, but also across the spectrum of personality types and backgrounds. Whilst time travel concepts and their associated paradoxes can be a really tricky plot device for any novel, Swisher handles the complexities with great attention to detail and gives the work its own inner logic that will leave sci-fi fans more than satisfied. I also really enjoyed the dialogue, which was totally distinctive for the different characters, and provided some great humor and emotion to balance out the intricacies and seriousness of the plot. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ring Fold to YA fans seeking their next wild and wonderful time travel adventure. A truly unmissable sci-fi read.
