In the absorbing contemporary romance novel, Reunion at Fortuny Bay: Book One of Fortuny Bay Series by Ara Grigorian, an estranged son returns to his childhood home. As he deals with a recent heart-breaking loss, he recalls sad memories from his turbulent relationship with his father. Now an affluent man who years back decided to put his past behind him, Leo never considered returning to the small beach town he grew up in. But after learning about his father’s illness, he heads home. Shortly after, Leo learns of his father’s death. At the hospital, he finds Cat, his high school girlfriend, who has been taking care of his father. Cat is angry at Leo who left her behind while chasing his dreams while Leo regards Cat with suspicion. Still, both are drawn to each other and Leo could be the person Cat can lean on as she fights her own daunting battles.
Reunion at Fortuny Bay is a spellbinding Christian romance novel that inspires strength for dealing with loss and starting the process of healing from childhood and relationship trauma. It contains powerful scenes that are charged with emotions and explores identifiable situations which involve grief, family estrangement, and childhood trauma. I found the many interwoven layers in the book captivating. Both main characters are complex and believable. As Cat’s story changed, I found myself rooting for her and her adorable son, Chicho. I also loved the book’s pace and felt that Cat and Leo’s love story was not rushed. Throughout the plot, there are many suspenseful revelations and gripping events. Ara Grigorian’s romance novel is an uplifting story with an original and enthralling storyline. Looking forward to the sequel!
