In an intelligent and intriguing new installment in the Heroes of Distant Planets series, Return to Lan Darr by Anderson Atlas is a book that readers will have a hard time putting down after they start reading. Follow the story of 15-year-old Allan Westerfield, a paraplegic who is traveling across the galaxy, as he desperately tries to return to Lan Darr. His uncle and best friend are trying to catch him as well as, unfortunately, the deadly Jibbawk. When they end up on different planets, and have to depend on themselves for their own salvation and survival, the story really gets started. Will Allan escape alive? You'll need to read the book to find out!
I very much enjoyed Return to Lan Darr. Author Anderson Atlas has done an excellent job in creating characters that his readers will be able to connect with, relate to and truly care about. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. I was easily able to pick up on this story line even though I had not read the first book in this series, but I will definitely go back and do that now; that's how great this book is. Any reader, but especially young adults, who enjoy a great work of fantasy, should definitely read Return to Lan Darr. I highly recommend this book, and I very much look forward to reading more from Anderson Atlas as soon as I possibly can!
