Return To Atlantis: Atlantis Series (Book 2) is a work of fantasy fiction penned for young adults by author J. M. Dover. Continuing the series from the opening novel, Finding Atlantis, we’re back with protagonist Adam Danburg, now aged fourteen. After his last adventure, the pathway back to the magical kingdom of Atlantis seemed to be closed off forever, and two long years of waiting have left Adam bitterly disappointed. So when ancient forces call him back, Adam is reluctant at first. But when he sees the danger that Atlantis now faces, Adam must team up with allies old and new to save the city from the void that awaits it.
Author J. M. Dover has created a highly engaging YA read that will also suit more mature middle-grade readers, bringing them into an exciting adventure world where friendship and solidarity really count. Adam has grown – both literally and literature-wise – since his last outing in fiction, and there’s some great development as he weighs up the pressures more like a young man now than a boy would. Complexities have developed in his reunited friendships and the stakes are more frightening than before. All of this combines with Dover’s superbly imaginative descriptions and cinematic imagery of the fabled lost city, creating a truly magical fantasy world that any youngsters would love to step into, even if it means they have to save it from total destruction! Overall, Return To Atlantis brings the Atlantis Series back stronger than ever with this developed and accomplished novel.
