It is never easy to deal with sad feelings and difficult situations, but those who find the strength to do so have much to offer to others. This is the gift that Juanita Gaskin gives her readers with her outstanding poetry collection Renaissance Dreams: Life's Journey Through Poetry. In this collection, the author talks about her childhood, depression, love, and finally, hope, offering the reader the story of her life made up of dark moments but also of circumstances that offered her reflection and moments of joy and comfort.
Renaissance Dreams is a collection of poems in which you really appreciate the author's existential journey. Juanita Gaskin writes wonderful poems that get straight to the point and allow the reader to understand her moods perfectly. Some poems concern sad subjects (such as the death of a friend and the poem dedicated to rape victims), but there are also poems where you have hope and joy (such as the one in which she celebrates the birth of a child). Overall, this collection will reward with hope and strength those readers who are in difficult situations and do not know how to get out of them. I believe we all deserve hope, and this is the right book to find it because of the experiences it tells. I highly recommend Renaissance Dreams to sensitive readers who appreciate poems about circumstances we all go through in life that are made unique by the words of a great poet.
