This intriguing short story will interest any romantic soul who believes love is ageless. Remembering Skye by Denise Liebig will stretch the reader’s knowledge of Scotland and its largest island in the Inner Hebrides. The Isle of Skye is where this love story began, hundreds of years ago. Through lifelong nightmares that have hindered her whole existence, Jinny Magill seeks the help of The Dream Academy. Hypnotics and dream study of past-life regression is Dr. Conall McCrae’s specialty and what brings her to his door. Few understood his passion and work in this area of dream study, but it may just bring about the solutions she seeks. Plus, the love predestined for him to find, but the only way to discover these answers is to travel to Scotland.
It is evident that Denise Liebig put much research into the plot of Remembering Skye as the story unfolds. She keeps the story flowing as new developments come to light in the dreams Jinny was having, though the full contents were not revealed until the end, adding mystique to the story. When they left America for Scotland, I was wondering how this would affect Jinny. Her insecurities were fed by lack of sleep and fear of the unknown. At one point the reader may wonder if she will reenact the dream of jumping off the cliff. Dr. Conall McCrae's belief in her and his work was pleasantly surprising when the dreams were revealed in their entirety. I loved it all and would recommend this short read to those who enjoy historical romances or Astral Projection.
