The Deloatchs have designed this story to be an interactive one with three different endings offered, as well as a number of activity pages featuring puzzles, coloring pages and connect-the-dots drawings. There is also a glossary of terms and thought-provoking questions about bullying and how to address the problem. Sharaye Smith’s illustrations are marvelous! They’re brightly colored and work quite well with the story to bring the characters and the action to life. Regina and Renita Tackle Nasty Nate's Nasty Ways! is most highly recommended.

It is a very enjoyable read as far as the rhyming and flow go, yet straight to the point in hard life issues. Renita is troubled by her birth mark, feeling ugly, ashamed and made to feel even worse when nasty Nate begins to call her names. Her sweet sister, Regina, quickly confronts Nate, who unleashes his nasty side on her as well. Each day these sisters encounter nasty Nate and his vile mouth. Renita even gets to the point of wanting to stop at a body shop to see if they can fix her. Her mother encourages Renita and tells her how beautiful she is and how much she loves Renita. She also encourages Renita to ignore the nasty comments that she hears.

Regina and Renita Tackle Nasty Nate’s Nasty Ways! certainly helps the young reader to have some positive ways of combating these all important and hurtful issues that most children encounter. The authors have three different endings to how the story could have gone. It reminds the reader how important our choices are and how the outcomes can change based on those choices. At the end of the book there are key words and their definitions, along with a word search puzzle, a color the characters, a color by numbers, and connect the dots activities. This is a very informative, engaging and helpful book that would be a great resource for parents to share with their children.
