Reflections from the Creek by Stephen Payseur is the story of Stephen and his friend, Josh. The two meet again and this time they talk about religions and Stephen discovering himself. Stephen believes that these meetings are coincidental from his side, but maybe Josh premeditates them. Every time they meet, he learns something new about Josh, himself, and the world around him. They share a very close bond and together they discover many realities of life, humanity, and religion, all at the same time.
This is a very deep book. After reading it, I realized there are many things that we take for granted. For example, there is something to be said about sharing a silent moment with a friend or with a loved one. This is just one of the little pleasures of life that we take for granted and miss because of our busy life. Yes, sometimes it felt that the book was a little slow paced, but I did not skip anything. And that was good, considering I learnt so many new things about Josh and how Stephen reacts to them.
This book has certainly given me a lot to think about. Their relationship felt like that of a beloved teacher and student. They both were eager to understand, learn, and share new experiences with one another, and that lifted the whole book up. I have not read the previous book by Stephen Payseur, so now I will get it to start this journey from the beginning.
