Recipe For Redemption is a work of women’s fiction and interpersonal family drama written by author T. J. Kelly. Suitable for all readers thanks to no graphic content, this emotionally intelligent family drama centers on the fraught relationship between three sisters in Iowa. Amanda ‘Mandy’ Durand is the one that got away, but when her mother doesn’t have long left to live, she is forced to return and visit her two sisters. She arrives to find the family business struggling, and what follows is a somewhat tragic but also empowering and emotive tale of a family trying to reform its bonds to save itself from the harsh twists and turns of life.
Author T. J. Kelly has created an easy read that is sure to flow well for anyone interested in women’s fiction, but it also manages to build up and deal with some very complex dramatic themes as it progresses. Sisters Mandy, Izzy, and Frankie seem cold from the very opening and it takes a while to crack their individual shells, but the plot is well arranged for these happenings to take place, and when they do, Kelly is ready with impactful dialogue to cut to the quick and show us what the ladies are really made of. This results in a genuinely enthralling drama that burns slow but cuts deep, and eventually creates a fully formed picture of fraught family life and finding the strength to repair it. Overall, Recipe For Redemption is a well written and recommended read for its target audience.
