Rain is a work of fantasy fiction penned for young adult audiences by author Christopher L. P. This enticing supernatural plot focuses on protagonist Tyler Grey, who is largely a typical fifteen-year-old until disaster hits him. When Tyler becomes an unwitting host to an incredible ancient power that gives him the qualities of a superhero, dealing with the changes in his life is only the first of his problems. For when a deadly organization gets wind of who he has become, Tyler’s the number one target for destruction and must battle for his own survival as he learns more about the powers within him.
In this opening novel to what promises to be a very exciting young adult trilogy, the conceptual setting for the tale is well established, and young Tyler gets his first taste of what it means to be a hero. There’s a great deal of emotional quality to the work with much angst, suffering, and passion, which will certainly appeal to the target audience and ramp up the drama of the work as a whole. Author Christopher L. P. has a particular talent for the dialogue of the characters, for they have an accurate realism for their young ages, but also a dynamism that moves the plot forward without the need for long scenes of exposition. This makes for a well-told story that moves at a good pace and always has something new and exciting to offer. Overall, I’d certainly recommend Rain for YA readers everywhere seeking a new adventure.
