Rachel and Sammy Visit The Forest is the second book in the adventures of Rachel the Raccoon and Sammy the Skunk. In the first adventure we found Rachel and Sammy visiting the prairie near their home and a look at some amazing flowers that grow there. In their newest adventure they are going to the forest to look at the wildflowers that are native to the forest land.
With a snack and a lunch packed and wildflower book in hand, Rachel and Sammy enter the forest near their home. On their newest journey they come across many flowers that only grow in the depths of the forest and bloom early before the trees put on their leaves. With many different flowers to look at, Sammy once again learns about all the different flowers and even teaches Rachel a lesson on flowers.
The illustrations throughout the book are very well done, along with some beautiful colored pictures of the different flowers they found. From Wild Violets, to Jack-in-the-Pulpits, to Dutchman’s Breeches and more, this is an ideal book for your child or grandchild to help them learn right along with Rachel and Sammy. It will also be good for a family outing just to walk in the woods and see how many different flowers one can find. This is a set of books I would recommend for every child’s library. As the Adventures of Rachel and Sammy continue in the future so will your child’s reading library and knowledge.
