Meet Quigley, a tiny hedgehog who is quiet and thoughtful in Quigley the Quiet Hedgehog by Claudine Norden. Quigley watches everything and takes it all in. He does not think he needs to shout in a big crowd. He is confident that he is seen and he has clout. He loves being on his own and reads all by himself. He likes to be quiet and likes his own space. Quigley is strong and he is happy being by himself. Quigley exudes strength and confidence and erases any misconceptions associated with introverts. Quigley will help all readers embrace and enjoy their quiet side.

This story is about self-acceptance and the author tackles the topic of being introverted in an engaging way, helping introverts become confident despite their different style of social skills. The illustrations are as lovable as Quigley is and make the concept tangible to young readers. The portrayal of Quigley's character is strong and empowering and many readers will be able to connect with Quigley's quietness and his love of solitude. It is definitely a good story for tutors and parents to read out to children because it helps youngsters value their quietness and introverted natures without feeling bad about it. This topic is not often written about in children's storybooks and the author does a great job by introducing Quigley to young readers. This book will help all introverts and quiet children be comfortable with themselves just as they are.
