Quack and Daisy is a great story of two unlikely animals becoming friends. Even though Daisy the cat cannot swim and Quack the duck cannot catch mice, they manage to become best friends in the meadow. They’re both curious animals that like to watch nature and they explore the meadow. Author Aileen Stewart is an excellent writer and her characters and scenery are very descriptive. Children will love the adorable story and illustrations. Stewart’s characters do not have much in common when the duck visits the cat’s barn or when the cat visits the duck’s pond, but they manage to overlook their differences and explore the world around them. Perhaps more people should read author Stewart’s simple lesson of forgetting differences and becoming friends.
Colorful and fun illustrations on the cover of Quack and Daisy and the inside pages look adorable and cuddly. Along with the fun, balloon type on the front cover, the book looks very inviting. Such beautiful artwork; even the reflections in the pond are well done! The book’s illustrations are well drawn and the expressions on the animals’ faces help convey this wonderful story. Quack and Daisy even comes with a free audio book that can be downloaded! Now children can read along with the book, or listen to the book in the car. An adorable story, excellent artwork, and an audio file provide excellent value for children and students. Quack and Daisy is sure to win awards and accolades. I can’t wait for the next adventure book with Quack and Daisy to come out; they certainly deserve an encore!
