Promise of the Visitor is book three of David Gittlin's Silver Sphere series. After saving the world once more in book two, Jacob and Amy returned to Jeffrey/Jack's beach house to unwind. Things got complicated rather fast and now Earth's saviors have an unconscious body at their feet and two Sheriff's deputies knocking at the front door. Arcon has informed his companions of an extraterrestrial visitor inbound with gifts for humanity. The “Welcome to Earth” party will have to wait, however, as a hostile warship is idling on the moon's surface and, to add to the excitement, is a fast-approaching doomsday device that wipes out entire solar systems. Jacob can’t seem to catch a break as once again the group will have to save Earth from impending doom.
The Silver Sphere series continues to deliver fast-paced suspenseful science fiction with ease. Promise of the Visitor retained all that I loved about the previous books in the series. The suspense, endearing characters, thrilling scenes, and great laughs continue to take center stage in David Gittlin's sequel. This book is a bite-sized read, just as the previous books were, and that’s something else I loved about it. These days we simply don’t have the time to read a tome. Kudos to the author for sticking with succinct stories. Although this book was a short read, the author successfully compressed the content without leaving out any good bits. Subsequent chapters began where we left off and the entire plot was well polished. The characters are still those that I fell in love with in book one, and the new addition, Silenna, was also a very likable character. This is another brilliant entry into a beloved series that readers of the genre will truly appreciate and enjoy.
