Priscilla: The Widows of Wildcat Ridge Book 1 by Charlene Raddon is the story of two lost souls who found their solace in each other simply by chance. Life hadn’t been kind to Pricilla. She lost her father and her husband and was willing to live the rest of her days as best as she could. A mine disaster took everything from her, leaving her without any means. Her life takes a new turn when she finds Braxton bleeding to death and she makes a decision that will change her life forever. Taking the hurt man in, she nurses him back to health without knowing how he will change her life.
This is an amazing beginning to a great series. I love it when authors put their hearts and souls into their characters and breathe life into the story. From the get-go, the characters had my interest and my attention; there wasn’t a moment when I wanted to stop or felt like there was something missing. Pricilla is a very strong woman, her circumstances made her grow up and she took the opportunity to get her life back on track. I enjoyed the chemistry between her and Braxton. Unlike the majority of historical fiction, this was no big man/little woman relationship. They were partners and companions; they were friends who respected each other. I liked the fact that the author gave these characters time to like each other, befriend each other and then fall in love, which made their journey even more believable. A wonderful journey!
