Pop and Shells: A New Beginning by Kristina Gemborys is a fun adventure story for children. The book follows a bright pink bug called Pop. Pop is in search of a new home and wants to find somewhere quieter than where she came from. Although occasionally suffering from being homesick, Pop bumps into a few other creatures along the way and even makes a new friend; Shells. Who is Shells? Where does Pop meet Shells? And the most important question of all, will Pop find a new home?
Pop and Shells is a well-written, adventurous book that will have children interested from the very first page. The introduction of Pop, a well-known bug, a Katydid, and the other characters are descriptive enough to have you imagine them in your head. Whilst this book doesn't yet have illustrations, I hope the author includes some in the future, especially of Pop and Shells, as it would delight the reader even more. The writing is simple enough for young readers to follow along and flows nicely. Kristina Gemborys has done an excellent job at creating fun content for young readers and it seems this book is the first of many to come. I can't wait to read about the adventures of Pop and Shells as I can only imagine how much fun it's going to be! I can picture a large collection of these books being popular among young readers. Kristina Gemborys is a great children's author and I wish her all the best in the future.
