Poet's Back Door: The American West Encouragement Love & Hope Patriotism by Allan Tidwell Is a book of poetry using rhymes to convey love, encouragement, loss, hope, and even history of the old west. He divides it into a few segments, one for the history of the old west, another for love, and another for humor and hope. This is a nice quick and relaxing read. Allan Tidwell gives you a lot to think about. I thought that Poet's Back Door was beautifully written. Allan Tidwell used the perfect cadence that made it a relaxing read. The world-building was well done, especially with the old west poems. I loved that Allan Tidwell did poems about the old west; what a neat way to learn history.
I should mention that there is a trigger warning, some of his poems are about death and loss, so that might be hard on some people. I think my favorite poem is Red, White, and Blue… it was so spot on with what is going on today. I admit I was a bit confused about the title of the last segment. I was not sure what was humorous? But, I loved that he ended it with encouragement and hope. The rhyming was well done, it made the perfect rhythm. I was disappointed when I got to the end. I wanted to read more. Poet's Back Door is a great collection if you want to relax too. Allan Tidwell also gives you a lot to ponder. I love it when poetry does that to you. I would definitely recommend Poet's Back Door to any poetry lovers.
