Perfectly Imperfect is Darlene P. Winston’s sequel to Where I Wanna Be, in which Dre and K.C. have faced the biggest storm in their life and hope to move on to live happily ever after. However, they start to worry when things go a little too smoothly. They thought that they left Hurricane Desirae in the past, but with one stiff gale, all of their hopes and dreams seemed to come crumbling down. Dre tries his best to move on from the destruction Desirae left behind, but K.C. seems to be the one stuck in the past. As with many romance novels, we do have a villainess who tries to tear them apart, but good luck to her!

In Perfectly Imperfect, we revisit some of the key characters who play important roles in the lives of Dre and K.C. as they move to the next level in their relationship. Armed with the diverse points of view of those characters, the reader is shown a broad picture of the main plot. I also loved how we can see that nosy family members extend to fictional characters as well. The flow of the story felt a little stifling to me at times, but this was more in the case of the time-lapses as well as the switching of locations. I was impressed by the mature approach these characters took in the situations described. Most would thrive on drama because it would add a bit of spice. Speaking of spice, there were quite a few spicy moments between K.C. and Dre. This doesn’t mean that Darlene P. Winston didn’t add some drama though! This is a quick and easy read if you're in a slump. Happy reading!
