Hank Rangar, former cyber warrior, has revolutionized cardiac surgeries, and is able to save millions of lives and medical expenses with his lab Made By Man. Unfortunately, his technology is stolen and his gravely ill sister desperately needs this crucial lifesaving procedure. Hank has to face a corrupt Washington bureaucracy – will he succeed? Pendulum of Justice is the first installment in the Hank Rangar Thriller series by husband and wife, authors Kaila and Dale Halling, aka D.K. Halling.

Absolutely brilliant – that was my first thought after I finished reading this compelling novel. Pendulum of Justice is a fascinating political thriller that grabbed my attention right from the get go. I want to have the intelligence, ethics, and bravery of Hank Rangar. I really admire this well-developed protagonist, who is a high-tech expert with a history as a skilled combatant in the government's computer warfare efforts. Corruption is an essence of the story’s premise that is familiar to all of us, so that we will instantly relate to Hank and the problems that he faces. His pain, frustration, and triumphs are also ours, against powerful people who let greed take over their ethical sense.

Kaila and Dale Halling are able to harmoniously create a deft prose in this engrossing tale about one man’s justice against a broken system. The message of this novel is bold, reminding us about the prejudice of government’s regulations regarding the merit of innovations. Overall, this is a commendable novel and an excellent debut for a great series.

Excellent book. A very good read and a protagonist you root for from the beginning. It has become rare to read a thriller where the hero uses reason instead of gunfire to solve problems. A welcome change indeed.

Keep up the good work, eagerly awaiting book 3.

Anytime a public official says that they are doing something for the public good or the public interest, you can be immediately sure that they are lying. Because there is no public good or interest - only individuals and sometimes groups of individuals. What this statement really means is that they are doing something for the good of one part of the public at the expense or to the detriment of another part of the public.

While this is true even when intentions are good in the mind of the official (the road to Hell is paved with those), it is even more true when the official is corrupt and working for their own benefit. Hank Rangar, an investor and builder of companies, is mired in numerous examples of the red tape that ensues from the first type of "public good". The type of red tape that sticks to his businesses and tries to drag him down. But when he, and an honest reporter, uncover that those dearest to him have been victims of the second type of "corrupt public good", he does what he has to and takes matters into his own hands. Eventually, no matter how bad things get, the pendulum of justice must come swinging back.

This book was a great read. It couples the pace and excitement of the best thrillers with a deep understanding of some of the foundational concepts of our republic - that government must be small and limited, that power easily corrupts, and that the true fount of success and progress comes from freeing people's minds to pursue their visions. It is also a scary view of our current world that is. As for Hank Rangar, what's in a name?

A new hero is born in this sexy, intelligent, and highly entertaining read. After his sister's death, Hank Rangar is on a mission uncovering secrets that lead him down a page-turning adventure. You will cheer for Rangar as you ask yourself, "Could this actually happen?"

Pendulum of Justice is a debut novel that sets high expectations for future DK Halling thrillers. The brilliance of the novel comes from the perfect union of fiction and realism the authors weave. Yes, everything in this novel can happen--it may be already.

After finishing this novel, you'll be yearning for more. Pick up its sequel, Trails of Injustice, for Rangar's next quest.
