Paving Your Path: What is Next for High School Graduates? by Kim Nugent, Ed.D is a helpful tool for high school students to develop a plan before graduation so that they achieve their goals and dreams. The book is a 30-week guide that will help to determine their pathway upon graduation and deliver successful results. The intention of the book, apart from providing a coaching framework that allows the mentor and the mentee to collaborate, is to create a useful plan for the student's future. This will help the mentor and the mentee to come together every week and discuss so that there is time for reflection and self-assessment.
The book is a useful guide that can be used by mentors, recruiters, directors, career services directors, parents as volunteers in school, and any workforce professional that can assist any student to get started on the right path. The author goes through the concept methodically and gives 7 pathways with a set of deliverables. The author's eclectic background and personal experiences will motivate students to self-assess their strengths and developmental areas so that they will be able to accomplish whatever they want to achieve.
The Checklist of Deliverables in the book will help students have a better perception of exactly what they are looking for and I like the fact that the author's writing style is simple and interactive. It is helpful to pull in readers in an interesting way without sounding too preachy. This is definitely a good book for all students who want to achieve their goals and see their destinies made manifest.
