Pathways by Brenda M. Asterino is a beautiful collection of poems covering most of the experiences that a woman has in her lifetime and concerns for creating a better world. Her experiences include young love and romance to motherhood. Most of the poems in the book are relevant to our times. This includes poems that cover the Covid-19 pandemic and war and other topics that have stood the test of time and gained more prominence in mainstream media in recent years, including human trafficking, domestic violence, and feminism. Asterino takes the reader through a whirlwind of emotions as she gently awakens you to the distress of our times while uncovering the possibilities and opportunities that await if we try to be and do better.
Pathways by Brenda M Asterino was a joy to read. Asterino articulates deep and burdensome issues that are often too much for individuals to bear, but she does it so eloquently that you can absorb and stay with those emotions, if only for a while, and maybe even think more deeply about it if not act on what her words evoke in you. My favorite poems were What Glory the Nature of Woman, A Plan, Darkness, Fear, Liberty, Wealth, and God-Shine. I found this poetry collection so astoundingly beautiful; it was almost incomprehensible that one person could be so talented beyond measure. Asterino wears her heart on her sleeve through this collection of poems and inspires others to do the same. Pathways is a meaningful, impassioned, and insightful poetry collection.
