Panther Across the Stars by Lon Brett Coon is an epic fantasy with characters that are deeply explored and a culture that is as rich as it is fascinating, a story for readers who are intrigued by war heroes and tightly plotted stories. Readers follow the path of a man who defies everything, rises above himself to fight for his people, a story with a historical setting in 1800s America. With the alien race known as the Jhagir by his side, will this hero be able to win freedom for his people?

The characters are well sculpted and readers will be keen to follow them as they evolve through the story. Lon Brett Coon's gift for storytelling and backstory infuses the tale with a life of its own. The pacing is fast and the story is well-structured with chapters that end with an irresistible invitation to the reader to move to the next one. The prose is characterized by a singular beauty and an economy of word that will please the reader. The overall story is balanced and the scenes are beautifully written and focused. I also enjoyed the fact that the author spares his readers unnecessary dialogues and focuses instead on creating powerful images for his readers. The scenes are action-packed and each of them unveils a layer of character development. This is a gripping story that readers would love to see on the big screen. I enjoyed the writing, the great characters, the immense conflict and the intensity of the action in this epic fantasy.

Panther Across the Stars by Lon Brett Coon is an epic work that follows the soul of a warrior, the journey of one man's courage when desperate times call for a hero. It's the most difficult time and the people are beset on all sides by deadly enemies. A man who has heard the cry of his people, and has experienced their pain from very close quarters, rises up against the enemy. He is the legendary Panther Across the Stars. But can he face what lies ahead alone? Follow his journey as he discovers himself, makes new alliances with aliens, and takes his place to defend his people.

Lon Brett Coon's novel is a work of great imagination that begs to be featured as a movie. Readers will be thrilled with images that fill the pages. The characters are unlike anything I have read before and readers will enjoy following the likes of Harrison. The protagonist's development curve is excellently done and the reader can't help but notice how he discovers each level of his strength as the story grows in intensity and the tension deepens. A perfect blend of epic fantasy and sci-fi, Panther Across the Stars is brilliantly plotted and executed with skill! I loved the tension and the phenomenal conflict, the surprises that readers won't see coming, and the exceptional writing that is filled with vivid descriptions. The story, while focusing on the plot, has a deeper level that explores spiritual themes. It's absorbing; an utterly satisfying read.

Panther Across the Stars by Lon Brett Coon is a pulsating epic fantasy that follows the story of a warrior and the struggle of a people for freedom, a story featuring sensational characters and a great plot. In a desperate time, a young man rises to lead his people, but against a ruthless enemy can he find the trust he needs in himself to lead them to freedom? And can the beings that communicate with him, the Jhagir, fallen from a distant star, be trusted to help him lead the people in desperate times?

This is a lyrical, epic story that reads like a long poem and I loved the fact that the author feels confident with the descriptive style. Yes, this isn’t the kind of book that is filled with dialogue on every page, and the few that are featured are well-crafted to read naturally, and readers will feel that they are required. The prose is fluid and crisp, and each page is filled with powerful and symbolic images. Lon Brett Coon’s character development is a great success. Characters like Tecumseh and Harrison, as well as many others, are sophisticated and legendary, and the culture in which they evolve is designed to represent a world readers will feel they are experiencing — real. The pacing isn’t too fast, but is measured, and the occasional moments when the story feels slow are compensated with great writing. Panther Across the Stars is a book for readers who enjoy great characters, a sensational conflict, and a tale that keeps them glued to the pages.

As a fan of epic fantasy and having read a lot of junk in this genre, I have always been very keen to discover the merits of a work that really stands out and I don't regret picking up Panther Across the Stars by Lon Brett Coon. When I opened the book, the first thing that caught my attention was the author’s strong narrative voice and the appropriate vocabulary. The author’s turn of phrase is unique and the style evocative. But it isn’t just the language that kept me going; the compelling plot and the author’s gift for character hooked me to the story.

Readers love characters that evolve through the story, characters who are flawed, and the protagonist is one such character. Confronted with a burning need to save his people and his world, he has to explore his very depths to discover his gifts and find the courage to embrace them. The advent of aliens adds another dimension to the story, and the author makes it a gripping read by building the tension, crafting focused and action-packed scenes, and developing a conflict that is extraordinary.

The prose is exquisite and the occasional insights into life will give readers a lot to think about. Right from the beginning, the author offers insightful takes on the theme of freedom, defining it as “the clarity of all the senses to break through the shrouded mist of reality's entanglements and confines...,” a definition that is as acute as it is deep. Lon Brett Coon is a great storyteller and readers can easily find an echo of themselves in the characters. Panther Across the Stars features a great story with an excellent plot and memorable characters.
