Paleo Thyroid Cure by Hazel Iverson is a very short book but presents an introduction to thyroid disease and how a paleo diet may help to alleviate one's symptoms. Essentially the plan is to eliminate all sugars from your diet. You may think, I don't eat desserts, but any carbohydrates can become sugar in the body. This is because the body runs on glucose. Carbohydrates break down into glucose, which changes into glycogen, which gives energy. If you don't need the calories right away, they are transformed into fat and stored in your fat cells!
Hazel Iverson has taken a complicated subject and reduced it to laymen's terms, aptly pointing out that a paleo diet can result in calcium and vitamin B and D deficiencies due to the absence of dairy products. This simply means that paleo dieters will need to supplement these and any other deficiencies with pill supplements. Some of these deficiencies can be discovered through a simple blood test.
As with any medical condition, it is best to check with your doctor prior to changing your diet in a drastic way. If you have a thyroid condition, I feel this book might help reduce your symptoms. I am not a doctor and cannot say for sure. While Paleo Thyroid Cure specifies grass fed meats and organic vegetables, simply cutting back on inflammatory foods like wheat could be an important first step. You may wish to switch your diet in several gradual steps since it can be a a drastic change for most people.
