Anna Matteo was a writer. She didn't consider her work typing press releases and brochures as serious writing. She was working on a novel, but after seven years, found herself procrastinating. She was ordering articles for a project she was working on. She typed in the name of her father and discovered he had Mob ties. He was murdered in 1976, and noone was ever convicted. The article hinted at a mob hit. Her father had always been her hero; she loved him dearly. She now knew he worked for the Mafia. She still loved him, but she wanted to know the whole story. Who was Paulie Matteo?
This story is loosely based on an actual event in the author's life. She actually purchased articles about her father who was murdered in 1976, and one of the articles mentioned the FBI and surveillence tapes.
Painting the Invisible Man is a fascinating look at life in the Mafia. I could not help but be captivated by Rita Schiano's tale. She is a talented author. I felt a oness with the character of Anna. This heartwarming story will at time bring tears to your eyes and at other times smiles to your lips. There is a hint of mystery along side history in this book. Do not miss Painting The Invisible Man.
