Our Names Are Written In Blood by Richard J Lester is a story about a group of people and how their stories are merged together. A prostitute is murdered in Ireland and no one knows where she is. Her murder is an enigma, and her American girlfriend wants justice.
The novel is set in two countries, Ireland and America. It is evenly spaced and the transition from one country to another is very smooth. Lester paid a lot of attention to detail and I really enjoyed that. I particularly liked the parts set in Ireland because there was a certain charm in them that was irresistible. There are many characters -doctors, priests, Protestants, medical students, families and many others - but even though there are a lot of characters, they are developed to perfection. You cannot find a single fault or flaw in them. They fulfill our expectations, even if we expect mundane things from them.
The novel is evenly paced and demands your attention, which I think is great for any novel. It made me invest in the story and allowed me to get into the plot and live the tension with the characters. All in all, it is a great novel that adults will enjoy.
