In this day and age of widespread duplication, especially in literary subject matter, and most especially in the area of spiritual learning and near-death experiences, a book such as One Woman’s Miracle by Sylvia L. Martin requires three things from its author: absolute honesty, non-exaggeration, and sincere communication. Otherwise, the interested and needful reader – especially one who is new to such experiences - is vulnerable to the shameful branch of psychic and transcendence teaching occupied by charlatans and thieves. Immediately upon beginning Ms. Martin’s straightforward narrative of her life and her awareness of its meaning, one is grateful to be in the presence of genuine understanding, candid revelation, and plain-spoken truth-telling. These three fulfilled requirements are what allow the serious reader to lower his skeptical and suspicious barrier of resistance in order to receive the immense gifts gained by reading and internalizing the lessons found in this heartfelt, deeply spiritual work.
The title of Sylvia L. Martin’s subtly dazzling book is One Woman’s Miracle, and one is so conditioned by the matter-of-fact revealing of basic living truths throughout the biographical preamble that he is quite startled and amazed when it comes time to talk about the miracle itself. The reader has been prepared to hear about the NDE, but he has not quite been made ready to hear about Ms. Martin’s incredible recovery, nor the transcendent decision-making process made during her NDE that led to her return. However, trust in the author’s honesty and sincerity have by then been well established, and one is left to marvel at - with a serene and complete acceptance - the truly miraculous nature embedded within each individual’s life. Her subtitle says it perfectly for this is indeed: Everyone’s Journey.
