One Voice by Cindy McKinley is a heartrending story which highlights how small acts of kindness can make a difference in people's lives. Jacob's acts of kindness towards people in the bus help him get donations for his new project. In the same way, readers get to see the mailman, a girl, a dentist's daughter, and a basketball player catching on to these kind deeds and making a difference in the lives of the people they meet. The story conveys the beautiful message of how we can make the world a wonderful place to live if we all work together.
The book is a must-read for children as it teaches them kindness and compassion and how small acts of kindness can change someone's life in a big way. The page at the end for parents, teachers, and kids is interactive and helps them to work toward making positive changes in their community and in the lives of the people around them. The illustrations are vibrant and colorful and they make the author's concept clear, convincing, and alive. It's a good bedtime story book for parents to read out to their kids and can also used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The story will motivate and inspire readers to indulge in small acts of kindness that can change someone's life. Stories that convey good messages or have a good concept should be introduced to children and they will better understand the message or the concept when narrated via a story.
