On Softer Ground: Paintings, Poems and Calligraphy by Sherrie Lovler is a collection of over fifteen beautifully written poems accompanied by colorful artwork. Sherrie exclusively created some beautiful works of art in On Softer Ground: Paintings, Poems and Calligraphy. Sherrie went on a seven-year artistic and creative journey of self-discovery which resulted in over 600 pieces of work, along with the creation of different types of calligraphy and paintings. “When I paint, I hold the words of the poem I am working with in my mind,” says Sherrie. With such a large volume of work under her belt, I'm sure that we'll see more of Sherrie’s poems and artwork in the near future.
As I began to read On Softer Ground, the calligraphy and paintings that accompany poems like The Edge of Chaos, Yes, The Sacred Ground, Balance and Meditation remind me of a greeting card. As you read some of Sherrie’s work, you are put into the space of being in a gift or card shop. As you walk through the shop, you see a rack of greeting cards that will suit every need. As you look through the cards, you see poems and artwork that resembles the work that Sherrie displays in On Softer Ground.
