I don’t go out of my way to read books about taking care of your parents in their old age. I have read a few books on the subject, but I found the majority just a little too depressing for me. I am fifty-eight years old. Both my parents are alive and healthy for their age. I want a book that helps me navigate the minefields of this situation. I want a book that is, first and foremost, written out of love. I am happy to say that On Angels’ Wings is the book I was looking for. I can’t praise it enough. It is beautifully written. It is informative, full of useful resources, practical tips, but most of all, it is written with love.
The thing that made On Angels’ Wings a great book for me is the simple but beautiful description of the relationship between author Deborah Lynn and her mother. I love my mother and I want to do what’s best for her if I must make decisions like those Deborah Lynn had to make. You can’t get better characterization in a book than the relationship depicted in On Angels’ Wings. As for scenarios, this one is taken straight from the reality for the baby boom generation today. I feel I am moving towards such a scenario myself. What brings it all together, what makes this a great book, is the writing and the editing. These are given a great boost by the beautiful artwork. This book is special. It is great, and it is so necessary for many of us in the same situation today.
