Originally named Purple, the point of view is through Bobbi's eyes. Author Judith Tabler talks about how Bobbi progresses from a pup to living and learning with his siblings. Being able to see and experience so many different sounds and smells is a blessing, as well as growing through them with his family. Bobbi is amazed by how the humans help him and his siblings by cleaning up after them. As they get older, each of his siblings gets a color-coded collar and is then sent to the vet for inspection. Afterward, each of them is separated until meeting their future caretakers. Bobbi is excited when he is selected.

Off We Go! is original and beautifully illustrated. Janice Zuckerman did a fantastic job bringing Judith Tabler's vision to life by painting realistic Skye Terriers, people, and backgrounds. Off We Go! is centered on Bobbi's life, from the beginning to beyond. I was glad to see that Bobbi was content with his owners, and his new home and job. I liked how the author tells readers what happened to Bobbi's siblings. I enjoyed the historical information in the foreword, the unique twist in the endnotes, the inclusion of a helpful glossary, and the Skye Terrier connection shown in the About the Author and the Artist section. My reading engagement was high as I read this story, and I recommend it to children and adults.
