Archie was not a normal owl, he wanted to be a Pirate. He traveled deep into the forest and met another owl named Wendell, who was sitting on the ground. Wendell liked the ground because he was scared of heights. Archie told Wendell how he wanted to become a Pirate and he asked Wendell to join him. Although Wendell was a bit scared, he agreed and they both traveled deeper into the woods. But when they meet more owls, he learns more about himself and starts to reconsider his dream of being a pirate.
Off To Be Pirates! An Owl Story by Kellen Roggenbuck is a charming children's story about self-acceptance. It is interesting to note how Archie's adventure in the woods and his running into other owls make him realize his worth as an owl. The illustrations are whimsical and breathe life into the characters and scenes. It is a good story for parents and tutors to read aloud to children to help them appreciate what they already have instead of looking for happiness elsewhere. The book has adventure, fun, and humor, and that makes it a captivating story for young readers.
