Of Poetry and God by Daniel Kerdin is a collection of emotionally inspired poems. The author uses a variety of poetic styles to convey an internal message relating to faith and experiences. You get the sense of the author's voice with each poem. The title of each bears a message in itself. Each poem elicits a different emotional response. "The Way to Your Will" relates the trial of Jesus with a personal experience of fulfilling the Lord's will. I found this riveting and jam-packed with insights, where the author paints the picture of suffering to fulfill a divine task.
Some of the poems are sentiments of the heart, while others share the gospel message in a simple way, not to indicate a poor demonstration but an easy display of faith through poetry. Faith is seen throughout all of the poems, some more than others. For those who are familiar with the Bible, you shall see how many poems mimic the profound scriptures themselves. For some, this will be their introduction via the gateway of poetry.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves inspirational poetry and for all who love biblical illustrations through the art of poetry. I am reminded of a particular scripture as I read through this book; Acts 17:28 - "For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring." Well done.
