Connor Beach is a quiet little place, even during the busy summer tourist season. That’s just fine with detectives Harry Chervenic and Mickie Wilder. Tina Siegert was always known as somewhat of a flake, a real space cadet, always looking for something different. The latest of her ‘searches’ is for the secrets of mystical power. After pulling a silly stunt, she comes under the radar of the Connor Beach police. Later she is found dead, her body adorned with mysterious symbols and a wooden stake driven into her chest. Although young for a detective, Wilder is made the primary on the case, giving her a chance to prove she belongs. Under pressure from the police chief, Detectives Wilder and Chervenic must finish this case up quickly but find there are a lot of suspects, including Tina’s friends, enemies, and husbands. Things quickly become more complicated after a second murder. Then the worse case scenario...the killer targets Mickie Wilder as victim number three….

Now Mourn the Space Cadet is a quick, thought-producing mystery in the best detective who-done-it tradition. Although a well-known theme, the setting catches the reader’s imagination with the windswept beaches, weathered houses and large rolling sand dunes. The cast of characters is a diverse lot, and the author does a good job of showcasing their strengths and weaknesses. The author’s creativity is brought out with a plot well developed and original and good sound dialog. The development of the story is well done, and it flows along to a good solid ending.
