'No Reins' by Angie Skelhorn is about Angel, a young girl who decides to go with her brother to help work in the stables to manage and train racehorses. She becomes interested in a young man named Stephen. Although Stephen admits to Angel that she is too young for him and he has a girlfriend, Angel is determined to do whatever she can to get Stephen to see her differently. Upon their first meeting Angel acknowledges the feelings she has for Stephen, and she will always feel this way. Angel takes a risk and makes the decision to follow her heart at any cost. One risk Angel takes may lead to her losing her life. And although Stephen rejects her feelings, he will be there besides Angel just in the nick of time.
This is a very intriguing story of romance, adventure and bitterness. I enjoyed reading the adventures that the story takes the reader through when it states the requirements involved when working as a stablehand for a horse barn in preparing horses to participate in racing. I must admit there is a lot of work a person has to do before a horserace. I enjoyed the romance part with the main characters Angel and Stephen. In the beginning of their relationship it was a friendship and later became something more. The part that I was of most concern was the physical abuse Angel endures from a guy that was obsessed with controlling Angel and he was going to force Angel to be with him or to never be with anyone else.
