Ninja Cats: The Adventures of Boxcar and Mumbles Book 1 by Patrick Klein is a delightful tale about the cats of Catsville, mainly Boxcar, Mumbles and Misty, and the despicable mice who threaten to take over their city. The three cats hear suspicious rumors of the mice’s plans to attack and take over Catsville, and decide to go down to the warehouse to investigate. Upon doing so, Boxcar and Mumbles unexpectedly find themselves surrounded by an army of thousands of mice. The army is led by the audacious King Craig. Boxcar and Mumbles must employ some very daring ninja moves in order to escape. They must warn the other cats. Although unfairly outnumbered, the cats must fight to protect their beloved home of Catsville and their way of life. The story leaves readers in suspense, wondering what will happen next and waiting for the sequel to this heroic tale.
This adorable short story is an enjoyable read, sure to entertain not only its intended audience of elementary school-aged children, but cat lovers of all ages. This story is full of action and adventure. Its daring fight scenes are certain to have readers on the edge of their seats and rooting for the loveable felines to win.
