Leah C. Fabian's Night to Day is a picture book story of the woes we may feel during the night. This short little book takes you into the dark of the night and shows creatures who live in the dark, and describes how dark is just night time without the daylight. Deer are sleeping, showing you that the night is just for sleep. Owls are awake at night; for them it's normal to be in the dark. Children can have nightmares about the dark and feel unsafe or unsure about sleeping when the lights are off. This book explains a little of what happens when it is night time. The book is illustrated with hand painted pictures, giving you an insight to what it may look like during the night.
Leah C. Fabian's Night to Day draws upon a child's fear of the night, depicting what can happen at night, and showing it is not as scary as we may think. The author uses illustrations of night animals such foxes and owls, with deer sleeping and text to assure the young reader that even though the night comes, it's taken away by the sun in the morning. Leah C. Fabian's Night to Day may help a child if they are afraid of the night, afraid of nightmares that can creep into one's mind before they sleep. The book is easily read by an older child who has learnt to read, or can be read by the parent to a younger child before they go to sleep. A simple little book with an important message.
