Nashville: Music & Murder by Tom Carter is a tantalizing novel set against a bubbling landscape animated by country music, a story featuring very interesting and well-developed characters. Maci Willis is loved for her voice, the very icon of country music, with a huge following and an incredible fan base. She lives for music. No, she is music itself; she is the very thing music fans adore in Nashville. But there is a problem: someone thinks Maci needs to be dead. So after a first failed attempt on her life during a concert where she narrowly escapes, and after the murder of one of her close fans, Maci knows the clock is ticking fast for her. Can she continue in music without becoming a very easy target? How can she live without the music?
Tom Carter is a great storyteller and doesn’t waste any time before introducing readers to the protagonist. The reader gets seduced by the action at the very beginning of the story. The huge conflict is also introduced in the first chapter — the attempt on the life of the protagonist. The conflict is powerful enough to move the plot forward. I loved the characters and they are well cast against a musical setting the author seems to master thoroughly. Maci is one of those characters readers will root for. Nashville: Music & Murder brims with drama, intense action, and monumental conflict. It’s one of those books that will entertain readers and open their eyes to the pain of being a music star. Unique and original. Great story.
