Jace may be a doctor to the world around him, but he is a centuries-old sorcerer with a heart of gold and scars that run deep. When he learns that Cailyn may be in danger, he is ready to run to her aid, even if thoughts of her scare him to his core. Ever since the day that Jace walked into her sister Elise's apartment with Rhys, to bring over a television, Cailyn has become undone. Her nice orderly world is in question. She thought she wanted safe and stable, but there is something in Jace that sets off every deep, dark fantasy that she could ever dream of and then some! Mystik Warrior: Dark Warrior Alliance Book 2 by authors Brenda Trim and Tami Julka is the story of Jace and Cailyn. How they learn to talk to each other, come together, overcome their pasts, and find that being fated mates is something to enjoy and relish, not to run away from.
Authors Brenda Trim and Tami Julka work together as a team so well that you never realize this is written by two people. The story flows smoothly and you are drawn in by Cailyn's fears, her thoughts of wanting stability and normalcy. Then you start reading about Jace and your heart breaks for him; no man should ever have to be put through what he went through and especially not at such a young age. Before you know it, you are crying as you are reading, wanting to just hug and rock Jace, as any mother would. You've been pulled into the story, now you can't get out until you finish the book. That is what amazing writers do; they pull you in, tug at your emotions, and get you to feel for and with the characters. Even though this story is fantasy - which we all love because it takes us away from the mundane things of life like laundry, homework, soccer practice and such - the characters are built so that we can relate to them, feel for them, and like them. I found this to be such a story, one that takes me away, transports me somewhere else for a little while, and renews my soul and my faith in true love. This a wonderful book for anyone, but definitely for those that need to escape reality, to get away for a moment, and who need to believe in the power of love again.
