Do you like to travel? The world is full of vibrant sights to see and enjoy, like “umbrellas, strung up on streets,” and “rainbows on mountaintops.” There are even “goats gathering in trees,” and “jungles where jaguars roam.” My Travel Alphabet: 26 Magical Places on Earth by AK Ratti lists great sights from around the globe alphabetically and you have a fascinating ABC book on world travel.
What better way to spark the imagination than a colorful book full of quirky and unusual sights from around the world? That’s what you’ll find in AK Ratti’s picture book, My Travel Alphabet. I’m sure there are lots more, but the author has made some great choices, pairing them with bright, bold, and colorful illustrations, and making the alphabet a rhyming lyrical verse. The letters of the alphabet are not directly associated with the name of the place being described but are used to provide an interesting caption of what that place has to offer. Simple rhymes like “blue” and “you,” or like “world” and “twirled.” Each scene is accompanied by a short note in small print identifying the location.
This book will certainly inspire young readers and those who are young at heart to want to travel to far away and exotic locations. Young readers will strengthen their knowledge of the alphabet as they rhymingly follow the journey. The world is full of magical sights and this is a wonderful treasure of a book to help young and old alike find the travel destination of their dreams. Loved it!
