Stroganoff is a miniature dachshund, short and long, but full of heart and love. His day begins with a wake-up song. It’s a silly song, really, but Stroganoff doesn’t mind because he knows it’s sung with love. He shares his daily routine of eating, walking with Mom and Dad, playing with his toys, naptime and so much more. You can’t help but smile at little Stroganoff as he trots through the simple but preferred events of his day.
Kat and Scott Arbuckle’s picture book story, My Pal Stroganoff: A Doxie’s Tail, is a sweet little story about a special member of the family, Stroganoff. Told in simple language to appeal to young readers and illustrated with color photographs of the star himself, Stroganoff, this story will definitely appeal to the young reader. Its message is simple: that pets like Stroganoff are family members and should be treated with the same care, love, and compassion as human members of the family. Their needs are simple, but their routine is important for them, as it helps them feel accepted and loved.
The story also teaches young readers the importance of eating regular, healthy meals (Stroganoff even describes what he eats) and healthy treats (which Stroganoff believes are worth begging for). It also encourages regular exercise and relaxing playtime, as well as regular sleep time. Yes, regularity is important for everyone, even the littlest member of the family like Stroganoff. It also stresses the importance of putting toys away at the end of playtime, something that young readers resist doing. Stroganoff makes a good role model and teacher for young readers to adopt healthy regular habits.
