My Nose Is Running! is the third instalment in The Tyler Files children’s book series, written by Brian Rock and illustrated by The Spread Good Agency. After facing off with a pair of talking pants and a giant wiener, Tyler now stresses over the upcoming school play for Thanksgiving. A more pressing issue arises, however, after Tyler’s nose jumps off his face and flees the classroom, causing Tyler to give chase... all while Tyler is wearing his turkey costume for the play! As Tyler and his best friend, Paul, try to piece all of these mysteries together, a shocking secret emerges as Tyler and Paul are about to receive a crash course in Native American history.
This series just gets better and better with each and every new book release. Brian Rock’s talent in writing the most extraordinary tale, coupled with a combination of hilarity and clever facts connected to each clue, is absolutely mind-blowing. I had to take a few pauses and come up for air. I was laughing so hard in some areas of the book as the visual aspects took hold. I especially loved the vast use of nose-isms (nose-dive, blew my nose, nose was running, picked my nose, followed my nose, etc.), all of which carried a double-entendre with each use. The teachers’ names perfectly describe their roles in the story to a tee... such as Principal Stern, Mr. Hypotenuse (math) or Mr. Beaker (science).
Tyler and Paul showed the true meaning of friendship throughout, and a surprise latecomer to the story left me agape as a wonderful and personal history quickly unfolded and took shape, providing a lot of answers behind the goings-on not only in this story, but also in the first two tales. I very much enjoyed each and every turn in My Nose is Running!, as well as all of the other books in The Tyler Files (which I recommend be read in order). I wholeheartedly recommend each to readers over the age of 12 years who enjoy great visual humor, encompassed in many an instance of a play on words.
