Dogs are special and form the theme of My First Dog Book by D.A. Batrowny. They’re a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. The best part of these great four-legged creatures is that they really are man’s (and woman’s) best friend. Soft, warm, with whiskers and a mouth for eating and barking, these lovable creatures have unique personalities. Some like to swim, others like to play with favorite toys. They might be different in appearance, but they are the same in their undying devotion to their human friend. It’s interesting to note that people who connect and care for dogs in a loving manner are usually more sensitive to others – a very good trait.
D.A. Batrowny’s picture book, My First Dog Book, is another great addition to the My First Book Series. This book introduces young readers to the dog and all its unique characteristics. The author uses simple language and easy (marginally complex) sentences to make them more readable. The bright, colorful photographs that accompany the text will definitely make children love dogs even more (if that’s at all possible). At the end of the book, there’s a photo gallery of all the dogs featured, so young readers can flip back and recognize the previous images of the same dogs – a good interactive exercise. This is a delightful book not only to educate young readers about these wonderful creatures, but also to entertain and engage their curiosity, love, and compassion. Overall, this is a charming introduction, suitable not only for young readers but also for toddlers who still love to cuddle up with a caregiver for a good read. Beautifully presented.
