My Daddy Might Be A Wizard is a children’s picture book written by J. J. Hebert and illustrated by Mindstir Media. The little girl in this story has figured out her father’s secret, and she’s happy to share it with the readers of this book. She is fairly sure that he is actually a wizard -- a real live wizard. You know, like in the movies. Her dad, like those legendary and amazing wizards, can do the most incredible things. With a flick of his wrist, he can propel a ball so far you wouldn’t think it was possible. And he’s been known to pick her up high over his head so she feels like she can actually touch the stars above. But that’s not all. There are so many hints and clues that have made her quite sure that her daddy has the stuff that wizards are made of.
J. J. Hebert’s My Daddy Might Be A Wizard is a sweet and compelling story about the magical bond between a dad and his daughter. And while the adults who are fortunate enough to be sharing this book with the children in their lives might see the magic as everyday, ordinary stuff, younger readers and listeners will, no doubt, listen carefully to the little girl’s clues and begin considering if their dads are not also wizards after all. I love the upbeat and positive tone of this story, and the illustrations do a marvelous job of celebrating the love that this wizard-dad and his daughter share every day. Each panel is boldly and brightly colored, and they all work perfectly with the text. This book is a grand selection for story hour, but it’s also written at a level that will allow new readers to read and enjoy it on their own. My Daddy Might Be A Wizard is most highly recommended.
