Murder Under A Cold Moon by Abigail Keam is a thrilling sleuth novel that follows Mona Moon and her new husband, Robert Farley, Duke of Brynelleth. During their honeymoon in England, they receive an invitation that seems like a distress call from Lady Eustacia, Robert's old family friend. The couple decides to investigate by visiting her old-fashioned manor. Unfortunately, Mona, Robert, and their companions arrive at Lady Eustacia’s house in a heavy rainstorm. Their first observation is the agitated guests in the house and the absence of the host. When a man, who turns out to be Lady Eustacia’s lawyer, is suddenly found unconscious with a head injury, Mona Moon begins to investigate the mysterious happenings at the manor to prevent becoming the assailant's next victim.
Murder Under A Cold Moon is a fast-paced, exciting story with interesting characters and an engaging storyline. It is the thirteenth book in the Mona Moon Mystery series by Abigail Keam. Using suspense and a never-ending array of twists, the author skillfully weaves character development with elements of mystery. When you think you have figured out who the real culprit is, Keam throws in another surprise that challenges your assumptions, making the story thrilling to read. The early 1900s setting adds a rich historical backdrop that enhances the narrative. I appreciated the glossary at the end of the book detailing the slang and terms used during that era, which helps the reader understand the story better. The ending will shock you and leave you with valuable lessons about family, charity, greed, and the consequences of past mistakes. Overall, this is a great story and a must-have for all historical mystery fans.
