Murder at the Summit is the fifth book in the Blake Sisters Travel Mysteries series by Carter Fielding. The adventures of the Blake Sisters continue as their summer getaway turns deadly. Whitt was looking forward to sunny skies and cool waters during a weekend retreat. Getting her sister Finley and their friend Charlie to agree and join her on the trip was the easy part; enjoying the vacation was another, especially when a body was found. Before they knew it, the sisters and Charlie were knee-deep in bodies. To make matters even more serious, Interpol Chief Inspector Gareth Evans and his colleague Cameron Bell were involved in this case. Could the five of them solve the murders before things got out of hand? Or would one of them become the next victim?
I was intrigued the moment I started reading Murder at the Summit. Although I haven’t read the previous novels in the series, I had no issues with catching up. Yes, having read the previous novels would have helped, but it was not a problem for me. The story itself was incredible. The murder at a high-end spa, how the body was found, and the introduction of Gareth were fascinating. The secondary plot point was a surprise to me, and I was involved in it quickly. it is a quick read and I finished the novel in one sitting. The mystery was so intense, and the action so riveting that I didn’t want to stop. I found author Carter Fielding’s narrative style to be entertaining and exciting. I loved how the author built the plot, gave life to the characters, and made sure that readers were invested in the story until the end. Highly recommended!
